Does the Brodie army helmet of World War I offer better protection against blast injury? Pressure is spread over a geater area and a helmet with a brim has higher rigidity than the wobblepot of World War II.

The U.S troops especially the Iraq veterans are the worst victims of Traumatic brain injury. Brain injury is very much different from other injuries. The process of treatment is also totally different as the injury is not clearly visible and the period for treatment is much longer than healing any other injuries. Sometimes Traumatic Brain Injury may result in coma and even death. This is the most disastrous injury that a human can sustain. The newly designed helmet has proved effective in sustaining head injuries but only to a certain extent.

I am so pleased to hear helmets are being designed with the prevention of TBI in mind (no pun intended!) On the news the other night I saw soldiers with what must be older helmets that did not cover their ears. This concerned me, I prayed for them and their safety. God bless our troops and families. Blessings, RH
