> a recent study

August 26, 1998

http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/280/8/737

When someone gives you an old science story and says it proves something, find the actual research; check the footnotes; check for papers citing that paper. See what became of the idea as other scientists working in the field published.

Look at the regulatory file to save yourself time redoing the research.

And there's this

While I agree that the clean air act should be rigorously enforced, there is virtually no evidence that the threat from mercury contamination has reached the stage where anyone should avoid eating fish as often as desired. I reference a recent study (see http://www.rochester.edu/pr/releases/med/mercury.htm)
